Diagnosis.
Diagnosing Myositis is a very complicated and lengthy process, there are many different tests and examinations that the doctors need to carry out , which will enable them to make an accurate diagnosis so that treatment can start at the early possible time.
Throughout the examination your doctor may ask many questions about your general health, including personal and family health histories, they may need to know when you first noticed any muscle weakness or/and skin rash and will examine your muscle strength and skin symptoms.
The Doctors may need to use one or more of the following tests in order to help confirm a specific diagnosis.

Conventional Blood Tests:
With these tests the doctors look for elevated levels of muscle enzymes in the patients blood samples.
Muscle and/or Skin Biopsy:
Here the doctors take small samples of tissue from the muscle, these samples show abnormalities in muscles including inflammation, damage and abnormal proteins. for those with skin symptoms the a skin biopsy is taken for study.
Electro-Diagnostic Tests:
Muscle Resonance Imaging scans (MRI) are used to reveal inflammation in the muscles and Electromyogram scans (EMG) will detect changes in the muscles electrical patterns that can indicate not only muscle disease but also which muscles are affected.
Antibody Testing:
Since the discovery of certain Myositis-specific and Myositis-associated antibodies, more detailed blood testing confirms a diagnosis and provides insight into the possible course of the disease.
