Disability Living Allowance (DLA):
Disability Living Allowance is a tax free benefit for children and adults to help with extra costs you may have because you are disabledYou may be entitled to DLA if:
Disability Living allowance has two components;
If you start to get DLA it may increase the amount of other benefits you may be entitled to.

- You have a physical or mental disability or both
- Your disability is severe enough for you to need help caring for yourself or you have walking difficulties or both
- You are under the age of 65 when you claim
Disability Living allowance has two components;
- Care Component if you ned help looking after yourself or supervision to keep safe.
- A mobility component if you cant walk or need help getting around.
If you start to get DLA it may increase the amount of other benefits you may be entitled to.

Attendance Allowance: (AA)
Attendance Allowance is a tax free benefit. You may get Attendance Allowance if your aged 65 or over and need help with personal care because you are physically or mentally disabled.
To get Attendance Allowance your disability must be severe enough to need any of the following:

There are conditions about your circumstances and where you live, which need to be met to get A.A
If you start to get Attendance Allowance, it may increase the amount of other benefits and financial support your entitled to. A.A is normally ignored as income when working out income related benefits and other entitlements.

- Help with things such as washing, (getting in or out of a bath or shower), dressing, eating, getting to and using a toilet, communicating your needs
- Supervision to avoid putting yourself or others in substantial danger, for example needing someone to keep am eye on your medical condition or diet.
- Someone with you when you are on dialysis.
There are two rates of A.A
- Lower rate if you need help with personal care, or supervision throughout the day only
- Higher rate if you need help both day and night.
